During her time as Artistic Director, Hannah coordinated collaborative projects, led creative teams, and founded the Amplified Currents Festival of the Arts, NADIA’s interdisciplinary arts festival.

 

Hannah Ishizaki (she/her/hers)

Founding Artistic Director (June 2020-2021)

Hannah Ishizaki (b.2000) is the youngest female composer ever to have a world premiere with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) with her composition “City of Bridges” in February 2017. Hannah was an inaugural recipient of the Blueprint Fellowship with National Sawdust and the Toulmin Foundation in 2019, culminating in a performance of her piece for Solo Dancer at National Sawdust in November of 2019. Hannah has been named an Emerging Composer in the Tribeca New Music’s Young Composer Competition Division II four times. Her compositions have been performed in Spain, France, New York, Pittsburgh, and Eugene, among other locations.

Hannah is currently in the studios of Mr. Andrew Norman for composition and Areta Zhulla and Ronald Copes for violin at the Juilliard School. Her teachers have included Dr. Robert Beaser at the Juilliard School, Dr. David Ludwig, and Chris Massa for composition and Hong Guang Jia of the PSO for violin. She also studied composition at many summer festivals, including the European American Musical Alliance, Yellow Barn Young Artist Program, Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Curtis Summerfest. In the summer of 2021, Hannah will attend a residency at the Leighton Artist Studios at Banff.
