Director of Strategy and Innovation

Ryan Williamson, 20, is a third year horn performance major at The Juilliard School. Stepping into the freelance world of New York City, he has performed with the New Jersey Sinfonietta, Music and Medicine Orchestra, and Little Orchestra Society. Most recently, Ryan was awarded a Fellowship with the Montclair Orchestra under the direction of Maestro David Chan.

Ryan is a adamant supporter of chamber music; previously he has been a member of both Zephyrus and Ventus Wind Quintets. Zephyrus Winds took first prize in the Wind Division of the 2017 Barnett Chamber Music Competition and third prize (Junior Winds Division) at the 2017-18 M-Prize Chamber Competition. During his first year at Juilliard, Ryan was a founding member of Brass22, an undergraduate brass quintet in the American Brass Quintet Seminar at The Juilliard School, and greatly enjoys working with his esteemed colleagues. The group was created with the intent of encouraging the expansion of brass quintet repertoire, and has undertaken multiple commissions and recording projects of new works. Brass22 was also a recent recipient of the Gluck Community Service Fellowship, which entails performances in healthcare facilities across all five boroughs of New York City. Ryan is passionate about engaging with communities through music. He has performed and organized multiple concert series devoted to supporting people, including the LEARN Benefit Concerts in both 2017 and 2018. These performances raised more than $20,000 to help fund absent music programs for children enrolled at the Chicago LEARN Charter School Network.

Ryan has participated in numerous ensembles and festivals including the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra (Principal Horn, 2016-18), National Orchestral Institute (Student Fellow), Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artist Orchestra, Chicago Youth in Music Festival, Interlochen Horn Institute, and ILMEA District and All-State Festivals. Before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Ryan had been looking forward to attending the Brevard Music Center. Ryan is honored and privileged to be in the studio of Julie Landsman and has studied previously with Erik Ralske and Daniel Gingrich.
